What's in the Food?

I finally caught up with Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution. I think I was trying to catch it all last year and could never find it. Season 2 has opened with a bang as the Los Angeles Unified School District would not allow him into their schools, and when one charter school allowed him in, he wasn't able to even look through the windows into the cafeteria, let alone the actual kitchen area. What's the deal!!?

If I were a parent in those schools, I would be livid... what are they serving my child in his school lunch or snack that can't be shared with a chef or the media?

I guess LAUSD had their feathers ruffled after the Season 2 premier so they finally invited the media for a first hand look...

The article says: Chef Mark Baida has 77 cents per plate to put together a good tasting, good for you meal, although you'll still see pizza and burgers on the menu.

The food is baked not fried and served in proper portions.

"We've eliminated all the palm oils, we've eliminated MSG, we've eliminated a lot of trans fats. Everything that we serve is whole grain or whole wheat at least 51 percent," said Barrett.

Uh, so why wouldn't you let Jamie view this in the first place?

Ought be and interesting season... Catch Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution on ABC on either Tuesday nights or Friday nights, I'm unsure.

We all might learn a thing or two about nutrition, or the "system".
